Project Overview:

In Google’s effort to invest in the city of Detroit, the future of mobility innovation, and STEM education for all, Google has signed on as a founding member at Michigan Central. We are looking for a ProgramManager to help manage our presence in Corktown and help coordinate both our education andinnovation programs in the space. They will work closely with a cross-functional group of Googlersacross Partnerships, Ads, Cloud, Android, Code Next, and Grow with Google, among others, as well asthe staff at Michigan Central to ensure that we are making progress on the partnership and delivering onour goals.

Hours: Full-time; Monday - Friday; 40 hours/week; Contract position

Overall Responsibilities:

The Program Manager will act as our site lead for all things at Michigan Central.

They will:

  • Solicit and manage Googler volunteers to support the efforts on site and in the community
  • Plan and coordinate events at Michigan Central and in the community
  • Manage the governance of the Innovation agenda set out at Michigan Central with the other founding members, including Google
  • Project manage Innovation projects that Google is a part of at Michigan Central
  • Work directly with the various Google stakeholders cross-functionally to gain support and resources for Google’s innovation and education efforts at Michigan Central
  • Prepare regular updates for Google and Michigan Central Leadership on the partnership and progress towards our goals
  • Organize and ensure that the space is being utilized effectively by Google

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:

  • Project manage the Innovation Projects and governance that Google is a part of at MichiganCentral
  • Coordinate Googler volunteers across Education, Innovation, and Mentorship pillars of our partnership
  • Manage Google’s use of the space at Michigan Central

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Organizational Change,Communication, Education, Social Work, or other related fields, Grow with Google Certificate in relevant field, or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years experience in Program / Project Manager or Site Leadership
  • Experience managing complex, cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Have a solid understanding of the tech industry
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Event Management experience

Nice to Have Skills/Qualifications or Not Required:

  • Have past experience working in either the automotive, mobility, or education industries
  • Have a passion for the City of Detroit and working with underserved populations
  • Have past experience contracting for Tech companies
  • Managing and recruiting volunteers
