POSITION SUMMARY

MCAN’s Michigan Equity, Courage, Hope, and Opportunity (MI ECHO) Scholarship Program is looking for a dedicated and passionate individual to help manage and sustain the scholarship program. MI ECHO is a tuition-free pathway for students who are not eligible for federal financial aid to pursue an associate degree or certificate program at any public community college or tribal college in Michigan. It is designed to serve DACA recipients, Temporary Protected Status immigrants, Special Immigrant Juveniles, and other populations who are excluded from most traditional financial aid opportunities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The MI ECHO intern performs a wide range of duties, including but not limited to the following:

  • Data capturing
  • Planning & coordinating workshops/informationals
  • Community Outreach
  • Building & maintaining partnerships
  • Conducting research on resources and effective practices when working with priority students
  • Drafting notes & minutes when needed
  • Attending meetings & events as requested
  • Recruiting potential applicants
  • Presenting/representing at events/meetings
  • Performing other duties as needed to advance the mission of MCAN

EDUCATION, JOB KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Great communication skills
  • Empathy
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Experience with Microsoft programs (i.e. Word and Excel)
  • Organization
  • Attention to detail
  • Passion or experience in working with at least one of the populations listed above
  • Bilingual (preferred)

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The hourly wage for this position is $15/hour. We offer flexibility around scheduling, and can accommodate (to the best of our ability) the needs of students completing an internship for course credit.
