Jamie serves as program supervisor for the West Michigan region of AdviseMI. In this role, she focuses on the supervision and development of 15-20 full-time college advisers while managing collaborative efforts with partner high schools.
Jamie earned an Associate of Arts degree from West Shore Community College before transferring to Grand Valley State University and completing a Bachelor of Science degree in philosophy and psychology. She has always loved school, and that drew her to the field of education. Jamie’s experiences as a first-generation college student and a transfer student gave her a desire to help others navigate their pathway to college, which also led to her service with AdviseMI.
After graduating from Grand Valley State University, Jamie served for two years as an AdviseMI college adviser with Fennville High School and Saugatuck High School. From there, Jamie returned to GVSU for graduate school, where she worked as a career development graduate assistant in the University Counseling Center. In this position, she helped undecided students discover a major and career path they were passionate about. As part of her graduate studies, Jamie also completed internships with Grand Rapids Community College’s Student Orientation Office and its Leslie E. Tassel M-TEC Workforce Training department. She recently earned her Master of Education degree within the GVSU College Student Affairs and Leadership program.
Outside of work, Jamie enjoys reading books, playing board games, watching reality TV, and visiting local wineries. She lives in Grand Rapids with her partner, their chocolate lab Chopper, and their cat Winston.
