Jordan Baah-Sackey

Strategy Assistant

As strategy assistant for the Service Strategy department, Jordan provides support and leadership on a variety of initiatives across the organization, including events, programs, and special projects.

Jordan began her professional career in elementary classrooms, teaching second and third grade English and serving as the head of the International Primary School at Wellspring International Bilingual Academy in Hanoi, Vietnam, from 2015 to 2018. After moving back to the United States, she began her AmeriCorps journey. In her first year of service, Jordan served as a reading interventionist at Kent City Elementary. Jordan's service as an AmeriCorps VISTA landed her at MCAN, where she maintained and launched initiatives while focusing on outreach to schools and communities across Michigan. After her VISTA term ended, Jordan continued to work as a consultant for MCAN, supporting a variety of cross-departmental projects and events.

With a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and a Master of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership, Jordan is a “Laker for a lifetime,'' having earned both of her degrees from Grand Valley State University. From an early age, Jordan's parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents instilled the importance of education in her and acted as a support net throughout her college years. From elementary school through college, Jordan has appreciated the teachers, professors, and mentors who helped her cultivate a life-long passion for learning and exploration.

Outside of work, Jordan enjoys spending time trying new recipes in the kitchen with her family, working on her quilting, and travelling — especially internationally! Having spent most of her life on or near the water, she believes every day is a good day to have a beach day.
