As partnership manager for AdviseMI, Lexi focuses on development and supervision of the program’s college advisers, as well as managing relationships with partner schools across the state.
Lexi always knew she wanted to work in public service. Originally from Texas, Lexi was encouraged by her grandfather to attend James Madison College at Michigan State University. She also credits her grandfather with teaching her the importance of working to support and build a community.
After graduating from MSU, Lexi served as an AmeriCorps member with MSU College Advising Corp from 2014-16, where she was the first college adviser to serve at Algonac High School. After completing two terms of service, she returned to MSU to pursue a master's degree in clinical social work. She went on to work as a licensed school social worker at middle and high school levels, providing mental health training to school staff members, implementing wellness initiatives for staff, and supporting students and families receiving special education services to meet their academic and personal goals.
Lexi is an avid crafter and spends her free time knitting, sewing, crocheting, candle-making, and wrestling balls of yarn away from her cats.
