Strategy Assistant for Recruitment and Alumni Engagement
He/Him or They/Them

As strategy assistant for recruitment and alumni engagement, Ryan oversees member recruitment for MCAN’s two statewide AmeriCorps programs, AdviseMI and College Completion Corps. He also develops and executes engagement opportunities for the vast network of MCAN program alumni throughout the state.

Ryan has first-hand experience with AmeriCorps programs; he joined the Michigan State University College Advising Corps and assisted the next generation of college-going students at Sandusky Jr./Sr. High School and Peck Jr./Sr. High School. Through that experience, he discovered a passion for education and community service. After his first year of service ended, Ryan joined MCAN’s College Completion Corps program and helped students at Kellogg Community College. During his time at KCC, Ryan helped students build skills necessary to succeed in college and supported them in their efforts toward degree attainment.

Ryan began his educational journey at Michigan State University thanks to encouragement from high school mentors and a supportive family. Although initially intimidated by the large campus, the instructors at MSU sparked his curiosity and instilled in him a deep love for learning. Ryan ultimately earned a Bachelor of Arts in film studies. The opportunities and personal growth he experienced in college inspired Ryan to help others achieve their postsecondary education goals.

In his spare time, Ryan enjoys exploring the outdoors, gardening, photography, and spending time with his family.
