As grant/program intern, Sarah supports the work of MCAN’s Community Mobilization Strategy department by managing grant reporting timelines, gathering resources for LCANs, and helping to maintain the Impact Map, among other duties.
Sarah is a senior at Central Michigan University pursuing a double major in public and nonprofit administration and Spanish, with minors in leadership and American Sign Language. College has always been a part of Sarah’s career plan, as both of her parents attended college and saw it as a necessity. Sarah loves gaining new experiences and perspectives, and her time in college has revealed a passion for advocacy and nonprofit work. Additionally, studying Spanish for a semester in Spain and meeting people from all over the world has allowed her to learn about different cultures and see the world through a different lens. College has been life changing for Sarah so far, and she cannot wait to see what the last year has to bring.
Prior to joining MCAN, Sarah’s work experiences include serving as social media manager for the Center for Equity Education, where she researched current events and created posts for the center’s social media platforms. At CMU, Sarah is involved in the Nonprofit Leadership Student Alliance and Student Government Association.
Outside of work and school, Sarah enjoys painting, drawing, and practicing photography. She also likes exploring the outdoors, whether by hiking, bike riding, kayaking, or simply being out in nature.
