How to Apply
Contact Jenny McArdle, Director of Service Strategy, for application details.
Partner College Eligibility
A partner college must be an accredited institution operating in the state of Michigan that offers associate degrees and/or certificate programs. Preference for partner college selection will be given to campuses that demonstrate an active partnership with their Local College Access Network (LCAN), Promise Zone, or other community partner.
MCAN will serve as the employer of record for all AmeriCorps Completion Coaches and will manage administrative elements of the program. Partner colleges will assign a designated site supervisor to communicate with MCAN and provide regular supervision and guidance to the AmeriCorps member(s).
Partner colleges will be required to provide each member with a designated office space, a laptop computer, phone and internet access and office supplies suitable for carrying out the activities of their service year. Partner colleges will allow Completion Coaches to access, monitor, and contribute to student records to measure program benchmarks and identify needed interventions.
Annual Cost Share Requirement
To build strong partnerships, each participating campus will sign a three-year memorandum of understanding and provide a tiered, annual cost share:
- Year one: $10,000
- Year two: $12,500
- Year three: $15,000
For partners hosting more than one coach concurrently, a $10,000 annual flat cost share will be required per additional coach.
Award Process
Partner colleges are selected through a competitive selection process. Final decisions regarding selection are based on information provided in the application, the partner buy-in as demonstrated by letters of support provided, and the level of need communicated in the proposal.

“I think it’s a great program, especially for underrepresented students and the underrepresented high schools, and we are serving, trying to serve that population. It is great. I think it’s an excellent program.”
