MCAN is seeking college graduates to serve as AdviseMI college advisers in selected high schools across Michigan for the 2023-24 academic year, particularly in high schools that are located in communities with low college-going rates and low adult educational attainment rates. Serving alongside high school counselors and other school professionals, advisers support low-income students, first-generation college-going students, and students of color as they make the transition from high school to a postsecondary education institution.
MCAN’s College Completion Corps places full-time AmeriCorps members on community college campuses to supplement campus efforts to increase persistence and completion of first-generation college-going students, low-income students, and students of color.
The Communication Assistant will support various initiatives and projects related to External Communications, Digital Media, Public Relations, Higher Education Engagement, Employer Engagement, and Educational Program Marketing for the organization. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, technically capable, detail-oriented, and has the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

This person will interview, hire, train, and supervise undergraduate tutors and Supplemental Instruction leaders, manage Supplemental Instruction program, develop and provide on-going professional development and ensure appropriate level of tutor certification, evaluate tutor performance, and provide on-going mentoring.
Core responsibilities will be to implement targeted recruitment strategies and to work one-on-one with prospective transfer students, guiding them through their exploration of, application to, and enrollment at U-M. You will focus on making U-M accessible to students who may not see themselves represented at U-M, such as students who are low-income, students who identify as Black, Latinx, Native American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, and Middle Eastern and North African, military veterans, community college students, student parents, and non- and post-traditional students.
In collaboration with the Assistant and Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies as well as Chairs and Directors, develop a robust recruitment strategy for the College that is aligned with the College and MSU strategic plans as well as the Charting Pathways of Intellectual Leadership initiative.
Responsible for providing academic advising services to participants to encourage and facilitate secondary school completion, postsecondary enrollment and graduation, and educational and occupational development.
Provides leadership for the Upward Bound project, having responsibility for the supervision of staff; conducts and coordinates planning, budgeting, staffing, and implementation of project activities and project evaluation.
Provide one-on-one advising assistance and technical support in guiding adult returning students through their options, aiding with eliminating barriers to postsecondary education, and helping them develop a plan to re-enroll in and complete their degree.
The HWPEP co-directors (one co-director from Western Theological Seminary, the other from Hope College) will provide the leadership, development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of all components of the HWPEP at Muskegon Correctional Facility in a manner consistent with missions of Hope College and Western Theological Seminary. The co-directors serve as the administrative officers for the curriculum, academic policies, and operations of the prison education program. The co-directors will be employees of Hope College and WTS, respectively, and the Hope co-director will work under the academic supervision of the Dean of Arts & Humanities at Hope College. The position is a full-time staff position at Hope College.
The Detroit Regional Chamber in Detroit, MI is looking to hire a talented individual for a full time Community Engagement Coordinator working to build awareness about the Detroit Promise and Detroit Reconnect. In partnership with other staff, you will work together to increase the number of individuals pursuing a postsecondary education. The role will primarily be in the field, traveling to events, and engaging with community-based organizations throughout Metro Detroit.
Detroit Regional Chamber in Detroit, MI is looking to hire a full-time Adult College Completion Manager to co-manage the Community Engagement Coordinator and the Adult College Completion Sucess Coaches. The work of the Manager, Adult College Completion will encompass two distinct bodies of work: 1) working with higher education, nonprofit and business partners to develop systemic infrastructure to reengage and support completion of adult learners; and 2) serving as a "navigator" in providing one-on-one advising assistance to adults wanting to enroll in college.
The Program Manager will communicate and facilitate school and community planning to 1) Increase the number of students within Eaton and Ingham County Schools who enroll in a post-secondary degree or credential program upon high school graduation and 2) Assist school principals, counselors, teachers, college advisors, parents and student to establish a college-going culture at each partner school.
Embodying the belief that community colleges serve the greater good, and that all students can succeed, the Student Success Advisor will provide support and a connection to resources in order to encourage student persistence and degree completion. This position will help students overcome a multitude of hurdles that have occurred to block their ability to pursue their educational goals.
