The College Board is committed to providing students with high-quality tools and resources during this difficult time. All students have free access to the premium version of its Career Finder tool through July 31.
The College Board partnered with Roadtrip Nation to create Career Finder, an online tool that helps students make informed academic decisions about careers based on their personal interests and what truly drives them.
While all students have access to the free version of Career Finder, the premium version provides a more personalized experience by connecting a student’s performance on the SAT or a PSAT-related assessment, to course, major, and career recommendations.
For students who were unable to test this spring, Career Finder will pull in the most recent assessment information to provide context about individual academic readiness for careers. It also allows students to see local, in-demand career opportunities with estimated salary ranges and gives them access to an expense calculator so they can estimate future expenses and put salary information in a better context. Students then have the ability to save and share their action plans. Students will be able to continue exploring the free tool after July 31 and any plans they make in the premium tool will be saved in their accounts.
“I would describe it as a tool that can really help you open your eyes to other job and college major opportunities,” said one student who uses Career Finder. “In just a few minutes, you can find so many jobs, majors and tips for things that you are interested in.”
To get started, students can access Career Finder through their College Board account or at roadtripnation.com/careerfinder. They’ll need to answer a few questions to start learning about real people with jobs that match their interests and what steps they can take to get there. Educators who want a brief overview of Career Finder should visit collegeboard.org/careerfinder. For an in-depth view, visit www.sat.org/pd and take the following steps:
- Under SAT Suite E-Modules, go to “Get Started”
- Create a College Board account
- Click “College Board Career Finder”
More information is available about the tool and this free access period by viewing the recording of the recent MCAN webinar.
