Strategy Assistant for Recruitment and Alumni Engagement
She/Her

As strategy assistant for recruitment and alumni engagement, Noon Bannaga plans and implements MCAN’s strategy for identifying and hiring potential AmeriCorps members to serve in AdviseMI and College Completion Corps, as well as managing ongoing communication with program alumni to keep them informed and involved in MCAN’s programs and initiatives.

Prior to joining MCAN, Noon worked at Michigan State University as a research assistant, working directly with a faculty member to develop an interdisciplinary course module focused on Indigenous tribes’ relation to Michigan and their negotiations with the state over environmental issues. Additionally, she completed an internship with the Human Rights Measurement Initiative, where she translated reports, learned about data collection, and researched grant opportunities.

Noon wanted to go to college after high school, but did not know what program or major she would pursue. She enrolled at MSU, and, following her interests in media, foreign policy, and natural resources, went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in comparative cultures and politics with a second major in international relations, both within MSU’s James Madison Residential College.

While at MSU, Noon mentored high school students through the university’s GEAR UP program. She also mentored other college students within the James Madison College, and worked with adult English learners through an MSU program launched in partnership with the Refugee Development Center.

Outside of work, Noon enjoys reading, going on long walks, and volunteering with the Environmental Justice Coalition.
