Careers at MCAN
MCAN is seeking college graduates to serve as AdviseMI college advisers in selected high schools across Michigan for the 2024-25 academic year, particularly in high schools that are located in communities with low college-going rates and low adult educational attainment rates. Serving alongside high school counselors and other school professionals, advisers support low-income students, first-generation college-going students, and students of color as they make the transition from high school to a postsecondary education institution.
MCAN’s College Completion Corps places full-time AmeriCorps members on community college campuses to supplement campus efforts to increase persistence and completion of first-generation college-going students, low-income students, and students of color.
The Strategy Manager of Student Success will support MCAN’s efforts in Higher Education Innovation through professional development and technical assistance, partnership building, and grant management. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with content experts to develop professional learning series for postsecondary practitioners, organizing convenings for Michigan’s institutional partners, and supporting institutions in reforming their student success processes. Individuals with backgrounds in academic advising, financial aid, success coaching, retention initiatives, new student orientation, and/or first-year experience initiatives — and who have worked directly with postsecondary students on advising, coaching, student success, or college completion — are strongly encouraged to apply.
