LANSING, Mich. — Michigan College Access Network has awarded a total of $30,000 in Educated Workforce Pathway Planning Grants to six cross-sector organizations across the state. The Kalamazoo Literacy Council, the Michigan Association for the Education of Young Children, Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium, Michigan Works! Region 7B, the West Michigan Center for Arts and Technology and West Michigan Works! each received $5,000 to strengthen efforts to connect historically fragmented sectors — K-12, higher education, and the workforce.
Each organization’s strategic planning framework will emphasize one of the following priorities:
- Articulated career and technical education (CTE)
- College credit and completion within apprenticeships
- College credit for industry-recognized credentials
“Our state’s long-term prosperity depends on preparing a diverse and well-equipped workforce,” said Ryan Fewins-Bliss, MCAN executive director. “By investing in these six organizations, we aim to bring education and workforce systems into closer alignment, ensuring Michigan’s students are supported and positioned to earn transferable credit that advances both their postsecondary education and career goals.”
