MCAN's 14th Annual Conference

MCAN's 2025 annual conference will be held Nov. 4-5 at the Lansing Center in downtown Lansing. This year’s theme, Standing Firm: College Still Matters, calls for bold conversations and action around the critical importance of higher education, especially in the face of ongoing deliberate misinformation and misleading narratives.

We are currently accepting applications for learning sessions and the pitch competition; conference registration will open in June.

Submit Your Learning Session Proposal

We are now accepting proposals through June 30 to lead conference learning sessions. Conference registration opens in May, and we will announce keynote speakers and additional details in the coming months.

Conference presenters can choose from two session formats: traditional workshops or lightning labs. MCAN's Request for Proposals Guide is available to help you think through your proposal, including the type of session, intended audience, and desired outcomes. Please review the proposal guide prior to submission. You can also view our informational webinar, recorded on May 13, which addresses issues you may encounter as you begin planning a session that is a great fit for the conference.

Proposals must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on June 30, 2025.

Take Flight: Sixty by 30 Pitch Competition

For MCAN’s second annual pitch competition, individuals will present an idea that has the potential to impact Michigan’s college attainment rate. The top three finalists will all win a cash prize up to $5,000 for their inspiring ideas!

Applicants should complete the pitch interest form ASAP. This is not the full application and is the first step in a two-part application process. The interest form gives the MCAN team information about the idea you are proposing. If MCAN has suggestions to help strengthen your pitch and ensure it’s in alignment with the big ideas we are looking for, we may provide written feedback for consideration.

The second part of the application process is the submission of your pitch idea in video form! No fancy technological skills will be required. Simply capture a short (three-minute maximum) video of yourself talking about the idea and upload it to the application site.

A recording of our informational webinar, which walks through the application process and common issues, is available to help you develop your pitch.

Interest forms must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on June 30, 2025.
